The RAFAMET KCI 320/400N CNC vertical lathe, built in Poland in 2011, allows for the implementation of a wide range of machining large-size details with complex shapes, such as turning, milling, drilling and boring of cylindrical, conical and curvilinear surfaces. The compact frame structure of the lathe made as castings from high-quality gray cast iron makes the machine stand out with high geometrical stability, high rigidity and better vibration damping compared to welded structures.
The KCI 320/400N CNC carousel turning center has one turning head and three milling heads set at different angles, with the help of which it is possible to implement complex machining programs. One of them is a special milling head (offset) which has been designed to perform drilling and milling operations when the position of the tool axis is shifted relative to the spindle axis in the direction parallel to the slide plane. The universal turning head enables semi-automatic clamping of CAPTO turning tools in the horizontal and vertical slot and provides coolant on/through the cutting tool.
A detail with a maximum weight of 50 tons is placed in the working space on a large cast iron table with a diameter of 3200 mm, with a dimensional rolling bearing. The entire working space of the CNC lathe was fully illuminated, enclosed with shields and equipped with a system of TV cameras connected to monitors, enabling tracking of the progress of the production process. The technological program is programmed in a simple and convenient way in the SIEMENS SINUMERIK 840D SOLUTION LINE CNC controller with a touch screen.
The RAFAMET two-stand vertical lathe is also equipped with a 5-position (right) and 3-position (left) tool head magazine driven by a special motor. The carriage slider automatically takes the heads directly from the tool magazine, which is controlled by the CNC system used in the machine.
Machining tools are measured and calibrated both before and after machining by the RENISHAW measuring sensor installed under the support beam. The measuring sensor takes into account the deviation of the accuracy of the tool mounting in the holder and the manufacturing tolerance of the cutting inserts. Measurements are designed to significantly increase machining accuracy and to determine tool wear, determine the remaining time of use and update its dimensions.
