What is Milling Operation?
Milling is a machining process in which a rotating cutting tool (called the milling cutter) is moved against a workpiece in order to remove material and create a desired shape. The cutter typically moves in multiple directions, including radial (in and out) and axial (up and down) motions, depending on the type of milling operation being performed. Milling operations can be done on various types of machine tools, including milling machines, machining centers, and computer numerical control (CNC) mills. Milling operations are performed on the milling machine where multiple cutting edges on the milling cutter interact with the workpiece. It is used to remove material from the workpiece, create different shapes and features.
